The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA)

The Fulbright FLTA Program is a nine-month, non-degree program for early career English teachers or professionals (with no more than seven years of teaching experience). Candidates who are teachers in the fields of American Studies, Journalism and Media, and American/English Literature will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. Participants from Saudi Arabia serve as teaching assistants in the Arabic language to U.S. students at U.S. colleges and universities. They have the ability to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency, and extend their knowledge of the society and culture of the United States.
SUSI for Secondary School Educators
SUSI for Secondary School Educators is a fully funded 5-week summer program in the United States that helps secondary school educators and administrators gain a greater understanding of U.S. society, culture, values, and institutions. SUSI educators complete a four-week academic residency at a university in the United States, followed by a one-week study tour in another region of the United States. The institutes provide content and materials for developing high school curricula concerning the United States, but do not cover teaching methods or pedagogy. Applicants must be Saudi Citizens (dual citizens are not eligible), mid-career educators and administrators (typically between the ages of 30-50) with working-level English proficiency. TIMELINE: Program topics and the application period normally opens in August, with applications due in December.
OPEN Global Online Courses
The OPEN Program includes online professional development courses, webinars, and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) designed and taught by U.S universities on a variety of topics for foreign English language teachers. The Online Professional English Network (OPEN) program offers free virtual learning opportunities to foreign English language educators, professionals, and learners worldwide.
